My husband and I bought a car two years ago and have already put 65,000 km (40,000 miles) on it, mainly driving back and forth from the New York/Philadelphia area (where I am from), to Toronto (where we live). Each summer we also do a 14 hour (each way) trip to Wisconsin and do other trips here and there.
As much as I love public transportation, my bike, and my two feet, having a car affords us freedom and the opportunity to stay connected and visit with friends and family. It also gives us the chance to listen to a lot of audio books.
