Londonstani by Gautam Malkani
Most of us agreed on one thing…don’t read this book! We are harsh, but truth be told we are a group of busy ladies (probably why some of us skimmed the middle sections), and as one member said, ‘I want those 5 hours of my life back!’ Ok, enough hating- there were a few redeeming qualities, like the unpredictable ending and the cover was catchy and bright. I rarely put down a book halfway through, but I was close to doing so on this one…and I wasn’t the only one.
I stand by this book! The ending was a killer (in a good way) – I read in alone while traveling and went crazy because I wanted to talk about it with someone and couldn’t. The writing style is totally off the wall and I thought it gave some cool insight into what it’s like to be a first generation Brit with parents who immigrated. Giddyup on Londonstani!
